Old Fast Trucks Drag Racing: Chevy C10, K10, Ford F150
Here is some video I took of old fast trucks drag racing at Wisconsin International Raceway on August 4th 2017. This is a clocks off, heads up race so you will not see any times or mph on the board. I usually just ask the drivers what they ran, and if they feel like telling me they will. If not, no big deal because you can get a pretty good idea of how fast it is from looking at it or comparing it to the car in the other lane.
In this video you can see the 1977 Ford F150 Farm Truck version beating a Mustang going down the quarter mile. I’m not sure of the exact time on this run but I know the truck runs in the 11 second area. The Ford Truck was caught sleeping at the light but it had the power to catch the Mustang and then pull on him good at the end of the quarter mile.
The next truck is a 1975 Chevy K10 4wd that is full weight of 5,000 lbs with a 5.3 liter turbo LS junkyard motor in it. It had a 6.0 LS in it before but that engine got destroyed and needed to get quickly swapped out with what every was laying around. The 5.3 stepped up and is hauling that 5,000 lb beast down the track at over 110mph. You can see in the video that the driver launched the truck perfect but the tires could not handle the amount of boost it was leaving off on and spun a bit off the line.
The last truck is a 1983 C10, I don’t know much more about it than it is a fresh new build which is missing a front grill, but from the looks of it, it is pretty darn fast.
